We aim to respond to data corrections and accessibility issues within a few UK working days.

What to include in your message

Report an incorrect insurance group

The most useful thing you can send us. Include the car's make, model, trim/engine and year — and the group your insurer or V5C shows — and the Motoring Data Desk will check it against our dataset and correct it if it doesn't match.

Ask us to add a model

We cover popular UK models and are expanding the dataset. Tell us which make and model you were looking for and we'll prioritise it — meanwhile, the reg checker may still resolve your car even if it has no dedicated page yet.

Question a cost estimate

Every figure on the site is an editorial estimate, never a quote. If one looks wrong for a group, our full calculation is published on the methodology page — tell us which assumption looks off and we'll review it.

Accessibility problems

If any part of the site is hard to use with a keyboard, screen reader or magnification, we treat that as a bug. Tell us the page and what went wrong and we'll fix genuine issues as a priority.

What we can't help with

We're an independent information service, not a broker or insurer, and we are not a regulated insurance intermediary. That means we can't give personal insurance advice, provide quotes, sell or amend a policy, or deal with a claim. For any of those, speak to an insurer or an FCA-regulated broker directly.

We also can't tell you who insures a particular vehicle — that's a different lookup entirely, handled free by the official askMID service. And if you want to know how we arrive at our numbers before writing in, the methodology page documents every source and multiplier, while our editorial policy covers how we review and correct content.

Privacy when you contact us

We only use what you send us to answer your message and, where relevant, to correct our data. We don't add you to a mailing list or pass your details on — see our privacy policy for the full detail, including why we never store the registrations people look up.
